Sirmoor Club Midland Nuneaton Branch celebrated the 166th Delhi Day on Sunday the 10th of September 2023 at Heritage Centre in Nuneaton.
Sirmoor members assembled wearing their immaculate Regimental Day Mufti. with full medals. The main guests were Major J. Harrop and Captain Bhim Saru. Secretary Corporal Gopal Shah requested all guests and members to be seated and the event commenced. The Chairman Lieutenant Ram Bahadur Rana welcomed the guests and members. The guests were greeted by Sirmoor Sathies Khada and Nishani Mai (Queens Truncheon). Puja was conducted by Major J Harrop and Major Siri Prasad Gurung by lighting candles.
The National Anthems of the United Kingdom and Nepal were played. This was followed by 2 minutes silence to remember the sacrifices of our forefathers during the Delhi war in 1857. We also prayed for those members whom we recently lost. Captain Bakhat Bahadur Gurung was delighted to read the traditional Delhi Day Citation which we have been listening since we all joined the Sirmoor Rifles. The celebration ended with delicious tipan tapan dinner, refreshing drinks, teej/ folk dance, and a raffle draw.
