Celebration of the first anniversary of 249 Gurkha Signal Squadron - charity run

249 Gurkha Signal Squadron are running 249 miles in 48 hours to raise money for the Salisbury STARS Appeal, and the vital work they do for the local community.

249 Gurkha Signal Squadron was formed by HRH Princess Anne one year ago. The Squadron has deployed supporting the NHS and had a very successful first year, some troops are currently preparing to deploy to Afghanistan. As we are unable to have a large event to celebrate our achievements, we are running 249 miles in 48 hours to raise money for the Salisbury STARS Appeal, and the vital work they do for the local community.

Not many people in the local Wiltshire community know Gurkha soldiers are even in Salisbury, and we wish to demonstrate our unique culture and Gurkha ethos and the unique contribution we have to the local area. We can think of no better charity to support than the STARS Appeal and the support they provide to Salisbury Hospital.

We have a video made by Signaller Atit showing the arduous training soldiers have been putting themselves through preparing for the event which you can view below.
