71st Birthday for the Queen’s Gurkha Signals - HRH The Princess Royal

On 18th September 2020 the Queen’s Gurkha Signals celebrated their 71st Birthday in Bramcote.

They were fortunate to have their Colonel in Chief, HRH The Princess Royal to take the salute at the birthday parade. HRH was accompanied by Master of Signals Lieutenant General Sir Nick Pope KCB CBE and Colonel of the Regiment Major General JJ Cole OBE.

A number of awards were also presented.

  • Verdon and Carter Trophy (Best Warrant Officer or Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the year) – Sergeant Sanjoyhang Rai
  • Ridlington Trophy (Best Junior Non-Commissioned Officer of the year) – Corporal Rajen Bura
  • Best Shot of the year – Corporal Hom Prakash Yonga
  • Sportsman of the year – Signaller Anish Gurung
  • Piper of the year – Signaller Akash Tamang
  • Trainee of the year – Signaller Sandesh Thapa Magar

It was an extremely proud and special day for the Regiment. Only a limited number of service personnel and families were invited to attend due to COVID-19 restrictions at the time.
