Captain John Armstrong and Sergeant Arjun Limbu gave a presentation of their epic 100 day journey around Ellesmere to members of the public at St Columba’s Church on Pont Street, in London yesterday.
The intrepid pair were joined by former Gurkha Officer Adrian Hayes who spoke of his attempt at the summit of Mt Makalu which was interrupted by the Nepal Earthquake and turned his expedition into a humanitarian relief mission.
Around a hundred guests attended including mostly members of the public, but also General Pope, a number of Colonels from around the Army, and the Ice Maiden Team (an all female Army team looking to cross the Antarctic).
After a drinks reception where chefs from Gurkha Company Sittang provided some outstanding Gurkha canapes, the presentations were introduced by firstly by Colonel BG, Colonel James Robinson before General Nick Pope had a few words to say about the presenters.
The presentations were extremely well received, and as there was enough food to feed a considerably larger crowd, the surplus was donated to the church who offered to pass it on the next day to a homeless charity which they support.
