Book of Remembrance for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Royal Proclamation at Rushmoor Borough Council

On the announcement of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Rushmore Borough Council, along with councils across the UK, opened books of condolence and a number of official events took place.

Major (Retd) Mani Rai MBE and Deputy Lieutenant for the borough (Brigade Secretary) was involved with many of the events in the Rushmore borough.

This included laying floral tributes along with the Mayor, Councillor John Marsh, official signing of the book of condolence. Then the Proclamation of the King, along with Leader of the Council, Councillor David Clifford, Mace Bearer, Chris Todd, Leo Docherty MP, and the Aldershot Garrison Commander.

Also attending were ex-Gurkhas, and their wives/daughters, signing the book of condolence including Captain Birbahadur Thapa 6GR aged 83.
