Community Engagement Project in Kenya with 1 RGR

A Platoon from B (Sari Bair) Company, The First Battalion, The Royal Gurkha Rifles (1 RGR) are currently providing Force Protection to the British Army Training Unit Kenya. Whilst on this task the team organised a community engagement project from 23rd- 25th September 2020.

The project was to support the Kalalu Primary School, just outside Nanyuki. The project involved external and internal painting of the buildings as well as providing desks and resources for the children. The school was initially built to accommodate poor farming families. The School receives little funding and the British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) Force Protection Platoon used the opportunity to benefit, and hopefully better the lives, of the local community. The project was led by Rifleman Uday Gaha as a project manager and supported by Rifleman James Gurung.
