A Covenant between Elmbridge Borough Council, the civilian community of the Borough of Elmbridge and the Armed Forces was signed at a special ceremony on 03 October 2013. The purpose of the Covenant is to encourage support for the Armed Forces community residing in Elmbridge and to recognise and remember the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces Community. The Signing was undertaken by Chief Executive of the Council Mr Robert Moran, the South East Regional Fundraiser Mr Canon Peter Bruinvels, the Mayor of Elmbridhge and Major Tol Khamcha QGS fom The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
The Covenant being a voluntary statement of mutual support between a civilian community and its local Armed Forces Community holds great significance for the people of Elmbridge. The Mayor stated that “he was proud that the Borough of Elmbridge was recognising the Armed Forces in this way.”
