As part of our Leadership development training in Gurkha Company (Sittang), Sergeant Tulasi Gurung (Platoon Sergeant 1) organised a Dilemma training package for the Junior Non-Commissioned Officers and Riflemen.
Dilemma is an excellent tool that helps personnel to make decisions when they are in doubt in day-to-day life. Dilemma is a very useful indoor training activity and Dilemma box set containing an instruction leaflet and Dilemma buzzer can be requested by emailing Army-SpeakOut@mod.gov.uk.
I found this training useful because it helps to improve the lifestyle of Serving Personnel in a positive way. ‘Dilemma’ can be played by groups of four to eight players/small teams and can be facilitated by any level of command from Junior Non-Commissioned Officers upwards. The game presents realistic Values and Standard based issues to players in easily understood language and asks players to choose their response to the dilemmas given. The value of the game arises from the discussions which follow each scenario. There can only be one winner to the game which creates a competitive gameplay atmosphere.
Dilemma training teaches us how to deal with dilemma and provides solutions to many areas of day-to-day concerns. It informs you to seek support from Chain of Command which generates trust, enhances team bonding, cohesion, make you more resilient when the going is tough, plus enhances low level Leadership skills.
