Four members from the Queen’s Gurkha Engineers and 36 Engineer Regiment (Search) are taking part in Ex THREE PEAKS CHALLENGE GURKHA WAYS (Ex TPCGW) on 21 – 22 Sep 13. The event will be carried out with a traditional version of the National Three Peaks Challenge but carrying 25kg of load in DOKO (a bamboo basket). The challenge will be the DOKO RACE theme which is one of the hardest test during the Gurkha selection process in Pokhara Nepal. The team will walk 42km of up and down hill trail and drive 725km of roads between the highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales and planned to complete in 36hrs. The main aim of the event is to raise money for the Gurkha Welfare Trust as well as to promote Gurkha 200.
The outline programme of the event is as follows:
Fri 20 Sep 13 2000hrs Arrive at Fort William, Scotland
Sat 21 Sep 13 0600hrs Start the challenge from car park, Information Centre Ben Nevis
1400hrs Complete Ben Nevis and depart for Scafell Pike
2000hrs Start Scafell Pike, Lake District
Sun 22 Sep 13 0300hrs Complete Scafell Pike and depart for Snowdon
0800hrs Start Snowdon, North Wales
0200hrs Complete Snowdon and the Challenge at Pen-y-pass, North Wales.
