Exercise OLGETA WARRIOR 21 – Papua New Guinea Defence Force

Exercise OLGETA WARRIOR 21

Service Personnel from The Second Battalion, The Royal Gurkha Rifles, has been deployed to Exercise OLGETA WARRIOR 21 on 27th September 2021 to Papua New Guinea (PNG).

This is to deliver a training for Pipes and Drums Platoon and Ceremonial Guard Company from The First Battalion, The Royal Pacific Island Regiment stationed at Port of Moresby and The Second Battalion, The Royal Pacific Island Regiment stationed at Wewak as a part of Defence Cooperation Program and further to solidify relationship between Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF) and UK Defence Force.

This enduring British forces presence in country facilitates an effective engagement program that continuous to build professionalism, leadership and military capability. Training team (under the leadership of Sergeant Arjun Tamang) have so far proven to be an invaluable method for strengthening UK defence and PNGDF cooperation – with tangible benefits including the strengthening of individual and collective people to people links between both defence forces.
