Major General Jonathan Swift OBE visited Nepal in the capacity of General Officer Commanding (GOC) Regional Command (RC) and Deputy Standing Joint Commander (UK) on the 20th of January 2023.
He was accompanied by Mrs Bridget Morrison, Civil Secretary RC, Major George Cazaleton, MA to GOC RC and Sergeant Mani Gurung, SA to GOC RC. The visiting team were hosted in British Gurkha Nepal (BGN) Kathmandu by Colonel Paul Smith, Commander BGN; Major Jit Hamal, Deputy Chief of Staff BGN; Major Douglas McCutcheon, Quartermaster BGN and Mr Kerry Burrows, Civilian Secretary BGN among other BGN Officers and Staff.
Major General Jonathan Swift OBE, GOC RC and team also visited British Gurkhas Pokhara to observe Gurkha selection and visit the Gurkha Welfare Trust (Nepal) (GWT(N)). The visit saw the presentations of GOC Coins and Commendations to military and civilian staff in Kathmandu and Pokhara and staff of the GWT(N).
