Exercise Dynamic Victory (Ex DV), CC302 (Summer Term 2021) is the final field exercise for Officer Cadets (OCdts) on the 44-week course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
It usually takes place in Germany, but for the second time it was held at Stanford Training Area (STANTA) in July 2021. 36 members of Gurkha Company (Sittang) (GC(S)) actively played vital roles on the exercise under the command of Captain Tarjan Gurung (Platoon Commander 2). GC(S) fulfilled enemy role (Red Force), three Gun groups (Blue Force) and two teams of Police (Green Force). Gun groups attached to a Company provide pivotal fire support to troops in contact, ambush, raid, camp attacks, suppressive fire power to enable OCdts to suppress, neutralize and destroy enemy forces.
During the Exercise GC(S) was visited by the Commanding Officer Sandhurst Support Unit (SSU) Lieutenant Colonel Samantha Hull and Regimental Sergeant Major SSU, Warrant Officer Class One Ian Lamming. They spent a night in the field and witnessed the jungle camp attack by the OCdts. We ensured our basic drills and field crafts were 100% up to scratch, everyone within the team knowledgeable up to platoon level tactics to provide best support as a Gun team. Throughout the exercise the cadets, Officer Commanding and Platoon Sergeants from BURMA company were really impressed and praised us for adding real value to the Exercise and training. My team and GC(S) chefs received Commandant Sandhurst Major General D F Capps CBE Coins for our hard work, commitment and setting a good example in front of the cadets.
