Gurkha Museum 2.6 Challenge to help raise funds

Our Museum’s 2.6 Challenge fundraising. The 2.6 Challenge is a mass participation fundraiser dreamt up by the organisers of the London Marathon to support charities in raising the vital funds lost by the cancellation of hundreds of events and initiatives due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Like all museums our income generation activities have been hit hard and while we continue to develop our fundraising we felt this was the perfect opportunity to encourage supporters, Friends, staff and many more to try raising money for the Museum.

All people are asked to do is think an activity based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 that suits their skills and complete it on or after Sunday 26 April – when the 40th London Marathon would have taken place.

This could be something as simple as pledging to run or ride 2.6 miles as your daily exercise, holding the plank for 2.6 minutes, gardening for 26 minutes, walking the dog for 26 minutes or even baking 26 cakes. People can either create a fundraising page through Virgin Money Giving and ask for sponsorship or take part in the challenge, make a donation and nominate someone else.
