Gurkha Wing (Mandalay) Celebrates Holi, The Festival of Colours

2nd March 2018

gwm-holi-celebration-2018_004Gurkha personnel including families from Infantry Battle School assembled at their Temple for a short Puja on 1st March 2018.

Captain Sachinhang Limbu (Officer Commanding /Second in Command Training Support Division) being the senior Gurkha Officer led the puja and offered his blessing to all personnel by offering a Tika on their foreheads.

The festival has great significance in Nepalese culture and the Brigade of Gurkhas which helps to generate harmony among the serving members as they smear each other with colours and water-filled balloons.

Gurkhas consider this as a festive day to end and rid oneself of past errors, forgiveness and new starts. The festival undoubtedly plays a vital role in the conservation of our values, unique cultural heritage and identity.
