The Gurkha Brigade Association represents all the Regimental Associations of Britain’s Brigade of Gurkhas. Veterans and serving, and all ranks, anyone who has served with the Brigade of Gurkhas is a member. Our role is to foster comradeship and welfare, to preserve the heritage and history of the Brigade of Gurkhas and to sponsor and support Association or Brigade events. We work very closely with Headquarters the Brigade of Gurkhas, the Gurkha Welfare Trust and the Gurkha Museum, for the benefit of our soldiers and ex-servicemen. We provide information on relevant news and events, in UK and abroad, as well as help and advice for those starting a second career outside the Brigade
Sergeant Sovit Baniya and Lance Corporal Yam from 1 Squadron, 10 Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment have been deployed as temporary duty staff for four months to the Land Training Fleet Sennelager, Germany.
The journey for the deployment was challenging due to a rise of COVID-19 cases and foreign travel policies. They will be working in the Custodian Account (CA) Storehouse and in charge of the Storehouse and Receipt/Issue stores.
The storehouse is the Regional Logistic Hub for the British Army in Europe providing equipment support to deployed forces in Germany, Estonia, Poland, Latvia.
Their key role is to support and provide equipment spares to two Warrior Company fleets, one Squadron of Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance and an Armoured Infantry Battle Group Headquarters fleet, in support of training. Other additional tasks include holding and accounting of forward repairable equipment support materials to deployed fleets across Europe.
This deployment is demanding as they must at times provide 24hr support to the battle group in location during exercise periods.
But it has provided the individuals a fantastic opportunity to work alongside wider military organisations and gain extensive knowledge on supply trade with highly experienced retired Divisional Ordnance Warrant Officers.
