At the first investiture for the Duke of Cambridge on 17 October 2013, Maj (Retd) Hemchandra Rai BEM was presented the MBE, for his dedicated commitment to Headquarter Brigade of Gurkhas, as Deputy Chief of Staff. Maj (Retd) Hemchandra Rai BEM was one of 88 recipients on the day to receive medals.

The training of new Gurkhas takes place at Gurkha Company Catterick for 39 weeks. They recently built a Gurkha memorial which will help the new Gurkhas understand the importance of remembering our fallen. This memorial features all the names of members of the Brigade who lost their lives from Operation Agricola in 1999 through to Operation Herrick 17 in Afghanistan in 2012.
