March and Shoot Competition Summer Term - Gurkha Company (Sittang)

On the 9th of July 2021, Gurkha Company (Sittang) organised a March and Shoot competition on Gallery Range at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS).

Sergeant Tulasi Gurung and Sergeant Uttam Pun planned and delivered the competition. The main aims of this event were to promote a winning mentality, enhance operational effectiveness and marksmanship.

It would also promote interest in the skill at arms (SAA) for the Defence Operational Shooting Competition that takes place at Bisley and help Gurkha Company (Sittang) management team to identify the best shot and best section for this future event.

The competition was designed to replicate situations likely to be encountered on operations and assess individuals and sections abilities. Colonel Training RMAS, Colonel Mark Jackson and Commanding Officer Sandhurst Support Unit, Lieutenant Colonel Samantha Hull attended the event and presented the prizes to the winners.

The results were:

  • Individual best shot – Corporal Birhang Limbu from 2 Platoon
  • Winning Section – CHQ team, led by Corporal Madhu Ghimire
