The regiment was formed as a merger of:

• The Queen’s Own Gurkha Transport Regiment
• The Gurkha Transport Regiment
• The Gurkha Army Service Corps

They were formed as component parts of The Brigade of Gurkhas on 1 July 1958. More information is available at The Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment Regimental Trust.

Currently mainly based in Aldershot. The Regiment’s primary role is as a Theatre Logistic Regiment, sustaining 3 (UK) Division, responding to any challenges, today or tomorrow, at home or on operations overseas.

Squadrons:

• 1 Squadron is the oldest squadron in the RLC and accounts for and stores materiel in support of a brigade or divisional deployment.
• 28 Squadron transports materiel and stores and transports fuel in support of second line force elements within a brigade or divisional deployment.
• 36 (Headquarters) Squadron provides command and sustainment to the Regimental Headquarters. It consists of a number of trades, including Communications Specialists and Chefs.The REME Light Aid Detachment (LAD) – The LAD provides first line vehicle recovery and repair for 10 QOGLR.
• 60 Squadron RLC – under command of 4 Regiment RLC.
• 94 Squadron RLC – under command of 9 Regiment RLC.
