Results of the 2022 Brigade of Gurkhas Photographic and Video competition

We are very pleased to announce the winners of the 2022 Brigade of Gurkhas photographic and video competition.

Photography

1st place – Corporal Raju Tamang (Army School of Bagpipe Music and Highland Drumming)
2nd place – Sergeant Dipak Rai (Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment)
3rd place – Major Norfield (The Second Battalion, The Royal Gurkha Rifles)

Video

Winner – Private Prasanna Gurung (Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment)

Prizes in the form of vouchers will be sent to the winners.

This year saw a range of images and video covering everything from soldiers on Exercise to dogs and rock climbing, and we thank all those who submitted entries and we encourage you to enter again in 2023. We would like to see more entries from across the Brigade and our veteran community in 2023. Watch the website for notices about the 2023 competition.

The First Battalion, The Royal Gurkha Rifles Running Club sent a team of seven from the Battalion to compete over the weekend in the Borneo Ultra Trails Marathon. They were joined by two members of the British Forces Brunei Aviation Wing. Borneo Ultra Trails Marathon is an extreme ultra trail running event held in the Malaysian Jungle environment of the Kiulu Valley, north of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Malaysia.

Congratulations to Corporal Radin Rai (Queen’s Gurkha Signals) for winning The Warrior Trophy. The Trophy is presented to the section commander of the champion section of each recruit intake training at Army Training Regiment Winchester. The Trophy was presented by Colonel K Dagless.

A team from the Corporals’ Club Infantry Battle

A team from the Corporals’ Club Infantry Battle School (IBS) managed to hit the trail of world-renowned bike park – Bike Park Wales. Bike Park Wales is always a bucket list for Mountain Bike (MTB) riders. With the lists of trails ranging from green trail all the way to black trail, it is suitable for all level of riders.

A team was led by Lance Corporal Sangam Gurung were looking for new experiences, fun, excitement, and the adrenaline of MTB ride on the trails. The event started with initial brief about the safety points and the difficulty levels of various trails, then the team was divided into two groups depending on an individual’s capability, each team having one Mountain Bike Leader (MBL) as the group leader. Every individual on the team really enjoyed the event and got a memorable experience from the activity.

This was also a great opportunity for the Corporal’s club IBS to experience the MTB ride and build team cohesion.
