Well done to Lance Corporal Sangit Gurung of the Queen's Gurkha Engineers who is the 2020 winner of the Bowring Trophy.
Bowring Trophy is awarded to the top Lance Corporal in the Queen’s Gurkha Engineers. Lance Corporal Sangit was awarded this trophy for his constant hard work and dedication. He has also consistently displayed his leadership and soldiering credentials time and again. He has deployed overseas on multiple operations and exercises including to Jordan, Afghanistan, Kenya, Canada and the Falklands.
On Operation HERRICK 17 as part of an Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Search team, he located two command wires connected to a container filled with explosives and a directional fragmentation mortar as the lead searcher. More recently he deployed to the Falkland Islands and was instrumental in the running and maintenance of 120 vehicles across the islands.
