25th August 2003

21168515 Lance Corporal Bhadrasing Limbu died on 25 August 2003 at Brecon War Memorial Hospital, Wales. He had been suffering from a very rare type of lung cancer. He was enlisted into the Brigade of Gurkhas on 22 May 1990 at Pokhara. On completion of
his recruit training, he joined the Queen’s Gurkha Engineers in Hong Kong and qualified as Combat Engineer Class 2. He was promoted to Lcpl in October 1995. In 1996, he was transferred to the RGR and had been serving with 2 RGR until November 2002 when he
was posted to Gurkha Demo Company, ITC Wales.
During almost 14 years of service, he served in Hong Kong, Brunei, Malaysia, Cyprus, Australia, UK, Fiji, New Zealand and was deployed on operation in Former Yugoslavia, Sierra Leone and Bosnia. He also took part in flood relief operation known as op RIVER in
Nepal in 1993 and Ex HOLDFAST in 1994.
He comes from Rajarani village in Dhankuta. He was a fine soldier and possessed in abundance those traditional qualities of a Gurkha soldier that are unique and so special. He was a kind, generous and thoughtful man who was liked and respected by all ranks. He will be missed and our deepest sympathy is with his wife Mrs Dilmaya and his six-year-old daughter Rama.
