21168861 Rifleman Delsing Purja Pun
Rfn Delsing Purja Pun died on the night of Tuesday 28 August 2001 at RIPAS hospital in Bandar Seri Begawan. He had been sick since
the first week of August 2001.
He was born in Ramche, Myagdi on 09 September 1971. He enlisted in the Brigade of Gurkhas on 12 January 1992 and attended the Basic Recruit Training in Hong Kong. After passing out his Recruit Training he joined 2 GR, A Coy in November 1992. After the amalgamation of 2 GR and 6 GR in July 1994 he remained in A Coy 1 RGR. In August 2000 he was posted to C Coy. He had an enthusiasm for his work and was a naturally talented sportsman. He set the highest standard and the finest example which both his Commander and fellow soldiers admired.
During his nine and half years of distinguished service, he served in Hong Kong, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Brunei, Belize,
Falkland Islands and Bosnia. On 04 September 2001 Late Rfn Delsing Purja Pun’s body was flown to his home town Pokhara in Nepal with full military honours, and his funeral service was held the same day. Approximately 1500 mourners attended the funeral service. The untimely death has been a harsh blow to the Coy, the battalion and obviously to his family.
