OG Signals 1981 – 2001

Signaller Dhurbakumar Gurung died tragically on 13 December  2001 in a road traffic accident when returning to 11 Signal
Regiment Blandford after successfully passing his driver training  course at DST Leconfield.

He was born in Luwang Ghalel, Kaski on 03 January 1981. He  enlisted in the Brigade of Gurkhas on 21 January 2000 in British
Gurkhas Pokhara and attended the Basic Recruit Training in  Gurkha Coy, JTC Catterick. After passing out from Basic Recruit
Training he joined the Queen’s Gurkha Signals in November 2000  and attended the Area System Operators Course in Blandford.

He was enthusiastic in his work and set the highest standards and  example. He was popular, ever cheerful, and had a wonderful
sense of humour. Late Sig Dhurbakumar Gurung’s body was  cremated with full military honours in Nuneaton on 27 December
2001. The untimely death has been a harsh blow to the Regiment,  to his friends and obviously to his family. Dhurbakumar Gurung was unmarried and we extend our deepest  sympathy and condolences to his bereaved parents and friends.
