In September 2022, A Company from The Second Battalion, The Royal Gurkha Rifles deployed on Exercise SARMIS with our Romanian and US Army counterparts, from the 2nd Mountain Brigade and 101st Airborne Division respectively.
Operating in the mountainous Braşov training area in Romania, A Company put their skills and drills to the test in an arduous environment against a hybrid enemy. Ahead of the final exercise, the Company also conducted interoperability training with our NATO allies and built on mountain specific tactics, techniques, and procedures, with wide-ranging knowledge sharing. For the Company, Exercise SARMIS underscored the importance of both strength through alliance and friendship, and adaptability to any environment, no matter the challenge.
