This year’s TRAILWALKER was held successfully over the weekend of 27-28 July 2013. 440 teams came from all over as far as Belgium and Switzerland to line up at the start line on Saturday 27 July 2013. Teams of teachers, lawyers, doctors and old friends walked alongside great groups from different companies and the Army.
The event started on Friday afternoon with fanfare at Queen Elizabeth Country Park at Petersfield with a comprehensive safety briefing followed by the display of Band of The Brigade of Gurkhas in front of enthusiastic crowd. There were 5 starts between 6 and 10 am on Saturday morning. Maj Gen N Pope CBE, Col QGS and Lt Gen Baxter, Master of Signals were among the military dignitaries who set the runners off from the start line.
It is inevitable to have some drop outs along the route during such an endurance event but majority of teams completed the course in reasonably good time. The popularity of the event is ever so growing and everyone was delighted to see the runners from Brazil, Slovakia, Philippines and India too.
