As a part of a stand alone BCS package, 70 Gurkha Field Squadron conducted two days of Marked Round Training System Urban training at Hythe Ranges during April 2021.
Paint based rounds were fired from SA80 rifles to gain a more realistic and accurate training experience.
Both days consisted of Section level urban training which culminated in Platoon level scenarios. Two sections from 20 Squadron also participated in the Training and integrated well.
The training was new to most of the participating Troops and everyone made the most out of the training. This was a unique experience that will add further value to the planned Regimental Urban Operations package later in the year.
Queen’s Gurkha Engineers are trained military engineers but also have the capability and requirement to deliver professional soldering skills in all situations when required. They have all completed the basic infantry training programme over 9 months in Catterick when they join the Brigade of Gurkhas.
