Two teams covering 200 km in two days

Gurkhas from 69 Field Squadron, 36 Engr Regt deployed to Falkland Island will be taking the grueling 200 km Falkland Challenge to raise money for the Gurkha Welfare Trust, Falkland Federation and Community Action Nepal.

Two teams named Everest and Invicta both consisting of 4 Men each will cover 100km and the total distance of 200km from Port San Carlos to Stanley via Goose Green. Their estimated time to cover 100km each is 24 hrs in combat boots, PCS carrying emergency rations/equipments.

Team Everest will start the 100 km challenge on Thu 02 Apr at 02 :00am in the morning followed by the Invicta team as soon as the Everest team completes theirs. The weather is challenging, however these 8 men and the support team are ready to face and complete the challenge in the occasion of the 200 years of Gurkha service to the British Crown.

Few other charity programmes are subsequently being held to raise money for their designated charities. A Charity Dinner night will be held in the Mount Pleasant Complex (MPC) on 4 April where senior officers and dignitaries are being invited. On the same day, SSgt Hurren and Sgt Buckley are organising a Wax Off challenge in the gym and a Charity Film – Who will be a Gurkha will also be shown on the same day at the SSVC.
