Exercise Dynamic Victory (Ex DV) is a final field exercise (FTX) of Officer Cadets (OCdts) at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS).
28 members of Gurkha Company (Sittang) (GC(S)) deployed on this exercise under the command of Captain Padambahadur Gurung (Platoon Commander 1). The OCdts are tested in a very demanding and challenging environment through various command appointments during the exercise which took place in Germany.
This was my first Ex DV in Germany as a Platoon Sergeant and the aim was to provide integral support for the success of the exerise. All movement to Germany was done via road which took us 17 hours. Gun groups were embedded into different companies during the second phase till end of the exercise. The weather was cold, the terrain was challenging, and a high degree of coordination was required to ensure GC(S) deliver the intended outcome working alongside teams from the US Army. Each Gun group was commanded by a Corporal in order to provide pivotal fire support to the OCdts during advance to contact, ambush, raid, and camp attacks. We ensured our basic field craft, Standing Operating Procedures and battle discipline is always to highest standard.
Our Gurkha chefs under command of Corporal Om played avital role and were awarded with RMAS Commandant Coins by the Commandant.
