Gurkha Company successfully organised a weapon display event, Exercise NAULO HATIYAR on 18th October 2020, led by Corporal Ashok Thapa Magar (The First Battalion, The Royal Gurkha Rifles) and his team.
The exercise was organised to give Recruit Intake 20 trainees a basic understanding of the British Army’s light infantry weapon systems and to introduce and showcase the various weapon’s capabilities.
The exercise started with various weapon stands displaying six different weapons; Sniper Rifle, 81mm Mortar, Sharpshooter Rifle, General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), the standard British Army rifle (SA80A3) and Javelin weapon system.
It was an exciting event as we had not seen most of the weapon systems that were displayed. We were thrilled to participate in the exercise. We got the opportunity to understand and feel the weapons at each stand. The weapons were so fascinating and attractive that caught our attention at first. Instructor Gurujis were very professional and expert to give us enough information in the most understandable manner.
We are lucky and privileged to have this opportunity to get to know the state-of-the-art weapon systems during our training and confident enough to understand the key features of those weapons in future if needed.
We were briefed on the weapon systems used during battle situations such as Mortars and General Purpose Machine Gun. I have now understood the primary use of those weapon systems and how they were used during our recent exercise.
