The First Battalion, The Royal Gurkha Rifles, C Company are in Jordan on Exercise OLIVE GROVE during August and September 2019. They are partnering the Jordanian Armed Forces Quick Reaction Force which is part of a wider 16 Air Assault Brigade Defence Engagement tasking.
Throughout the Exercise they will be conducting live firing and blank rounds training to learn from each other and to develop interoperability between the two nations. There is also excellent opportunities to share the cultural aspects of Nepalese and Jordanian people. But key is the firing ranges which are superb. There is lots of scope for aviation and air landing opportunities helping to demonstrate our versatility and allows us to learn about the desert environment.
It is also a great opportunity to see a different part of the world and to work with an important partner. The location offers good opportunities to create testing training serials using the wide range of equipment available to us, from weaponry to Night Vision Systems. The Medium Machine Gun Platoon Cadre Live Firing Phase is happening concurrently.
