Colonel Brigade of Gurkhas Dashain Message 2025

On the occasion of Bijaya Dashami 2082, I along with my family send our deepest respect and heartfelt warm wishes to all members of the Brigade of Gurkhas, both serving and retired, and to all your families and friends. I hope that you can all find the time, wherever you are in the world, to come together with comrades and loved ones to celebrate this significant occasion. I trust that this auspicious festival of Dashain will bring you peace, happiness and prosperity and may it also strengthen our unity and belonging, inspiring greater success in all our future endeavours. This cherished festival carries with it a message of resilience and devotion; qualities that you all embody so proudly.

I also take this opportunity to honour our families who have stood steadfast beside us providing that crucial strength and support, we are truly indebted to them for that. Dashain is also that time to celebrate victory over adversity and to cherish our traditions.

Of course, this year we will also reflect on the terrible scenes and loss of life that have recently occurred in Nepal. I know we all hope and pray that this wonderful country will safely come through this turmoil and can quickly look to a better future.

In the UK and around the world, for the Brigade of Gurkhas there have again been many outstanding achievements this year, and all our units have continued to showcase their renowned Gurkha capabilities on operations, on major exercises, and in sporting and military skills. We continue to deliver new capabilities to the Army’s order of battle and that is likely to continue over the coming years bringing further opportunities and improved service prospects. This has been particularly evident with the formation of our seventh capbadge; The King’s Gurkha Artillery and I know we all wish them every success on this remarkable undertaking.

To all members of the Brigade, I sincerely thank you for those many great achievements over the last year, for the challenges you have overcome and for your unwavering dedication to each other, to your Regiments and to the Brigade of Gurkhas. So wherever you are, on operations or at home, and whether serving or retired, I again hope that Dashain will bring you renewed strength, lasting health and family togetherness. Please continue to take pride in who you are and where you have come from.

Jai Brigade of Gurkhas!
