The First Battalion, The Royal Gurkha Rifles (1 RGR) supported by The Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas and Pipes Drums (Band), exercised the right to the Freedom of Folkestone, Kent in the UK on 12 October 2025.
A parade through the town took place, with the Mayor and Deputy Lord Lieutenant Inspecting the Gurkhas and taking the salute outside of Town Hall. The parade Commander was Major Niall Pollinger (Officer Commanding B Company 1 RGR).


His Excellency, the Ambassador of Nepal to the UK, Mr Chandra Kumar Chimire, attended the event and took time to speak with the Gurkhas on parade.
The Freedom of the Town, was granted to them by the Folkestone Charter Trustees in 2004.
