From Pokhara to Catterick

323 new recruits joining the Brigade of Gurkhas have started to arrive in the UK.

Ahead of them are nine months of basic and specialised infantry training that will turn them into elite fighting warriors and members of one of the most admired military organisations on the planet.

For them, this is very much the start of an adventure, one that will see the would-be soldiers following in the footsteps of thousands before them.

They are arriving from Kathmandu into Manchester Airport. Expert management through a well drilled procedure by immigration staff and police at the airport sees them swiftly greeted and then they move by coach to Catterick.

Upon arrival at Gurkha Training Company, they are welcomed by staff, before settling into their new home for the next nine months.
