Gurkha Company (Tavoleto) conducted a two‑day Mental Fitness Workshop (MFW) in February 2026 to strengthen awareness among Combined Arms Manoeuvre School permanent staff on mental health, early recognition of challenges, and practical coping strategies. The programme was planned by Warrant Officer Class Two Ravin Rai, with Sergeant Mikish Gauchan and Corporal Ganesh Chand leading and facilitating the sessions.

Recognising that mental fitness is as vital as physical fitness for maintaining resilience and operational effectiveness, the workshop adopted a holistic approach to wellbeing. Spiritual leaders, Pandit Ji from The Queen’s Gurkha Engineers and Lama Guru from the Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment, were invited to offer guidance, reflections, and wisdom on sustaining inner balance and emotional stability.

A highlight of the workshop was the participation of Mr Hari Budha Magar MBE, a Gurkha and British Army veteran, and the world’s first double above‑knee amputee to summit Mount Everest and complete the Seven Summits across seven continents. He shared a powerful and deeply personal account of his journey, emphasising resilience, purpose, and overcoming mental health challenges.
