337 New Trainee Gurkhas received a warm welcome from the Brigade of Gurkhas Training staff at the Infantry Training Centre in Catterick, UK. They will now commence their 39-week training programme. This will cover all the requirements of becoming a trained Rifleman, cultural and education lessons as the instructors prepare these young people for a long career in the British Army.
When they complete their training later this year, they will go on to join various parts of the British Army as part of the Brigade of Gurkhas. The current capbadges within the Brigade are:
- The Royal Gurkha Rifles
- Queen’s Gurkha Engineers
- Queen’s Gurkha Signals
- Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment
- The Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas
- Gurkha Staff and Personnel Support
