A great day at the Brigade Bhela 25
The Brigade of Gurkhas Bhela took place on the 5 July 2025. We were glad to see large number of attendees from different Gurkha Brigade communities, consisting of both serving personnel and veterans, participated in the event at Queen’s Avenue in Aldershot.
The event also so the Kathmandu Veteran’s Football match, Gurkha ladies volleyball competition and the final of the Nepal Football Cup.
Various sporting events occurred throughout the day, commencing with the Kathmandu Cup (Veterans football), the Ladies volleyball, and the Nepal Cup football final.
The veterans from The Queen’s Gurkha Engineers emerged victorious in the Kathmandu Cup.
The Ladies volleyball tournament featured a fiercely competitive set of games culminating in the final, where Gurkha Allied Rapid Reaction Corps Support Battalion emerged victorious.
The Nepal Cup was won by The Queen’s Gurkha Signals ream, triumphing over the team from the Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment, with the final score 2-0.
Throughout the day, we were joined by the new recruits from Intake 25, who showcased their impressive skills in Taekwondo and Khukuri patterns in the arena. The audience was thrilled by their performance, and they received a thunderous applause as they exited the arena.
The Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas delivered two exceptional marching band displays, maintaining their reputation for excellence.
We were delighted to have several business stalls, as well as the Gurkha Welfare Trust and the Gurkha Museum Trust, in attendance. Additionally, various Brigade units and associations had their own tented areas set up around the event. BFBS Gurkha were on hand to cover the event and a livestreaming team from Forces news broadcasted the final of the Nepal Cup around the world so our people in Nepal, Brunei and around the world could tune in on YouTube to watch the game.
We extend our gratitude to the organizers from HQ Brigade of Gurkhas and the support staff who dedicated many hours in challenging weather conditions to prepare and pack all the event tents and support necessities for the event to proceed.
