On the 18th of October 2023, the members of Gurkha Company (Tavoleto), led by Company Sergeant Major Warrant Officer Class Two Suman Sherpa (The Second Battalion, The Royal Gurkha Rifles) carried out a refurbishment task at the Warminster Saddle Club. This included repairing the weak fence lines and a damaged fence gate that had not been in operation for a while.
With the completion of this task, it will enable all the horses from the club to graze safely up to the perimeter fence once again. This will reduce overgrowth of the vegetation within that perimeter and allow rare flowers to grow without being obstructed. The importance of these rare flowers is that bees, who are endangered species, rely on these flowers for food. It is estimated that one third of the bee population in the UK is at risk of extinction as a direct result of human activity.
Gurkha Company (Tavoleto) is delighted to support the local community, supporting nature and making the planet more sustainable.
