The Pipes and Drums of Queen’s Gurkha Signals delivering Defence and Community engagement Events in Nepal

Commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Queen’s Gurkha Signals, the Pipes and Drums of Queen’s Gurkha Signals were deployed with The Band of Brigade of Gurkhas for the British Gurkhas RI25 Attestation Parade in Pokhara. During their time in Nepal they also delivered a number of defence and community engagement activities across the country.

The additional engagements included performing at the Aaha Rara Gold Cup Football Tournament 2081 BS in Pokhara, Kaski Residential Home and Dharan Residential Home of The Gurkha Welfare Trust (GWT), 262nd Nepali Army Day in Kathmandu, Sandhurst Alumni programme at the British Embassy Kathmandu and joint musical training and concerts with the Nepal Armed Police Force Band, Nepali Army Band and Nepal Police Band.

During the time in Nepal, Signaller Anil Gurung, (242 Gurkha Signal Squadron) led a
fund-raising initiative supporting the GWT and the Orphans Home in Lalitpur. The event was supported by Corporal Aakash Tamang, Lance Corporal Sandesh Rai, Signaller Birat Rai, Signaller Jyonus Gurung and all members of The Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas.

The team managed to raise £750. £285 was donated to the GWT. Food, cleaning and sanitary products and stationery items worth £285 were handed to the Orphans Home and £180 was donated for medical support to a resident of the orphanage.
