The King's Gurkha Artillery starts to take shape in Larkhill
The 2 June 2025, marked another proud step forward for The King’s Gurkha Artillery, the Royal Artillery and the Brigade of Gurkhas, as the first batch of Gurkha Artillerymen arrived at Larkhill and were presented their new cap badges and berets.

With The Colonel of the Regiment for The King’s Gurkha Artillery, Brigadier Charlie Harmer, receiving the salute, this marks another step on a fantastic journey together. Colonel Brigade of Gurkhas also attended the event to present some of the new cap badges and congratulate the Gurkhas who have transferred from other parts of the Brigade to The King’s Gurkha Artillery.
Also intendance was Colonel Patrick Farrell OBE ADC (Regimental Colonel Royal Artillery), Colonel David Butt (Commandant Royal School of Artillery), and Colonel Andrew Swannell (Deputy Colonel King’s Gurkha Artillery).



The KGA is under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Michael Fletcher and Battery Commander Major Alexander O’neill. The Gurkha Regimental Sergeant Major is Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Santosh Rai and Regimental Sergeant Major 14 Regiment RA is WO1 Peter Kinsey.

There are initially 80 personnel in the KGA, six Officers and 74 other ranks. The KGA will grown to form further batteries over the next 3-4 years.
