Gurkha Company Catterick organises various competitions to enhance and sharpen our field skills and robustness. These types of competitions always motivate the trainees to our limits. The March and Shoot competition is the most awaited competition and Recruit Intake 23 trainees were ready to showcase their physical robustness and shooting skills.
It took place on the Catterick training area at the Wathgill Range. Gurkha Company Catterick training team planned the competition, and it was challenging as they adding complexity of a battlefield scenario where soldiers had to tactical advance in battle (TAB) 11km with 21kg of load run. This was followed by a section shoot from 100-300 metres distance. The first team set off at 0730hrs and was led by their respective section commander. The route was gruelling with a combination of metal and gravel roads ups and downs through the Catterick Training Area. Despite the arduous terrain all sections came well within the allocated pass time of 1hr 30mins. Even though the marching phase was tiring, my section commander motivated us and pushed us. Within my section, I could see the determination and team effort from each of section members which led us to the finish line in 1hr 16mins.

The march and shoot competition one of the most interesting and challenging Inter platoon Competitions so far in our training. Recruit Intake 23 are looking forward to participating in more competitions to exhibit our capabilities and military skills.
