History was made on the 3rd of May when we saw the Nepal National Football team vs the British Army Football team at the Military Stadium in Aldershot. This was a first for Nepal and the match was watched by 1000 Gurkhas from across the Brigade. This was the biggest attendance at the stadium for many years. A close match that ended in 0-0 score line. Of note there were 6 players in the Army team from the Brigade of Gurkhas. We wish the Nepal team the best of luck for Monday when they will be playing the England C team at the Aldershot FC stadium.
On the 6th of May the Nepal Team then took on the might of the England C team, at the EBB Stadium in Aldershot, home of Aldershot Football Club. Over 5000 people attended. The match, which was broadcast live on the Forces News YouTube channel, saw goals from Nicke Kabamba and Callum Stead seal a 2-0 win for England C, which sees the best English players outside of the Football League team together.
This tour for the National team was hosted by the Army FA, with administrative support from Headquarters Brigade of Gurkhas.
