From April to June 2025, 15 Air Assault Support Squadron (Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment), proudly undertook the role of Public Duty Reinforcement Company in London. This involved delivering ceremonial and security duties across some of the UK’s most iconic Royal residences of Buckingham Palace, St James’s Palace, Windsor Castle, and the Tower of London.

At the Tower, the Squadron worked alongside the historic Yeoman Warders, known as Beefeaters, with the General Support Troop assuming responsibility for the Tower Guard. Soldiers performed key daily rituals such as the Opening Ceremony, the Ceremony of the Word, and the time-honoured Ceremony of the Keys, proudly preserving traditions that date back centuries.

This deployment brought together seasoned ceremonial experts and first-time participants, all united by discipline, professionalism, and the Gurkha spirit. A significant highlight was supporting the 80th Anniversary of VE Day, marked by 30,000 ceramic poppies and a royal visit from Her Majesty Queen Camilla.

The experience remains a defining honour for 15 Air Assault Support Squadron and a proud chapter in the Regiment’s legacy of service and ceremonial excellence.
