Earlier this year, The Gurkha Museum marked the sad passing of Rambahadur Limbu, the most recent Gurkha recipient of the Victoria Cross. Today marks the 58th anniversary of his heroic actions during the Borneo Confrontation where he rushed out in the face of relentless, heavy fire to rescue two seriously wounded Gurkhas.
Rambahadur’s own account of the action is modest, commenting simply that he considered it to have been his lucky day when noting the extreme good fortune of his survival entirely unscathed from such a dangerous situation.
You can listen to the whole story via The Gurkha Museum podcast and watch his VC presentation at Buckingham Palace.
