World Book Day was on 5 March 2026, and the Gurkha Museum in Winchester opened its doors to visitors to come and see and even read some of the large collection of Gurkha and related military history books that the museum holds in the library and indeed in the corridors.
It was also a chance to showcase a new book by Gordon Elson – Warriors from the Himalayas and the author himself was present to talk about his book.
Gurkhas from 94 Supply Squadron (Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment) came along and took the opportunity to look at the temporary exhibitions and the books on display in the library. They were engaged with the staff and the book author to find out more about the Gurkha ancestors and Brigade of Gurkhas history.
