The Gurkha connection project

26th September 2017

Earlier this year members of the Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment and Gurkha Veterans got together with a group of young people aged 12-18 from the Hart and Rushmoor area on a project called the Gurkha Connection.

This culminated in an exhibition and a commemorative book. The students read books on the Gurkhas, looked into our history and above all they visited museums, met and worked with members of the local Nepali community and serving Officers and Soldiers from 10 The Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment.

Maj C B Khatri and other members of his Regiment briefed the these young students at Aldershot Military Museum.

Members of 10 QOGLR also visited Wavell School and the Farnborough Sixth Form College, delivering talks, interviewed by the students and photographed for the project.

It is important that the wider community understand the Gurkha culture and our history so that Gurkhas are a genuine part of the local community in which they live and work.
