Rehearsals for Public Duties take place at Wellington Barracks, London

Gurkhas from the Queen’s Gurkha Signals and the Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas have been preparing for Public Duties in central London.

From Friday the 19th of April the Queen’s Gurkha Signals will take on the role of Public Duties Guard for Buckingham Palace, St James Palace, Windsor Castle and the Tower of London. The Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas will alternate with the Rifles Band on a two-week rotation.

To allow each unit of the British Army to take on this role, weeks of ceremonial and drill training takes place, culminating with an inspection, fit for role’, by Officers and Soldiers from the Household Division, who have many years experience with the prestigious role.

This high-profile role will see the Gurkhas in the spotlight of London Tourists until the end of June 2024.
