Hong Kong Troop from 247 Gurkha Signal Squadron deployed to South Cerney on Exercise WIRELESS CENTURION 2026 for a two‑week period under the leadership of Lieutenant David Fawcett and Staff Sergeant Shemprasad Limbu. This was to support 29 Regiment, Royal Logistic Corps, through the establishment of a Theatre Enabling Group Headquarters and the provision of Operational Communications and Information Systems services.

This exercise was conducted alongside Exercise WIRELESS WOLF 2026. The planning team from WIRELESS WOLF integrated with the OF4 headquarters, improving the headquarters’ ability to deliver situational awareness tools through Commercial Off‑The‑Shelf systems including Advanced Functionality and Network Capability and Wide Area Voice Environment. Staff were also introduced to the future satellite communications system Intellian.

This Exercise allowed the staff users to practise the full operation of a headquarters, including planning cycles, battle rhythm management, and identifying areas for development for future exercises. It also gave users the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the Communications and Information Systems they will likely use on future deployments.

The troop was welcomed by heavy snowfall on the deployment day, followed by Storm Goretti and freezing temperatures later in the exercise. These harsh conditions tested the team’s resilience and ability to work in a demanding environment. Despite the weather, the strong teamwork and professionalism of Hong Kong Troop ensured the timely establishment of a safe, secure, and fully functional headquarters for the staff users. The professionalism, determination, and teamwork shown by Hong Kong Troop throughout the exercise highlighted their ability to deliver high‑quality support, even in challenging conditions.
