The Brigade Training Team (BTT) delivered pre-Cambrian Patrol 2026 (CP26) Training at the Sennybridge training area in Wales. The training brought together 256 personnel across 22 teams. This included representatives from the Brigade of Gurkhas, The Rifles, Royal Corps of Signals and the Nepali Army. Of these, 18 teams completed both the teaching and patrol phases.
This training continues to evolve as a key Brigade training activity, fostering professionalism, teamwork and the soldiering excellence required to uphold the Brigade of Gurkhas’ reputation and standards ahead of CP26. The demanding programme ensured that all participating teams refined their core fieldcraft, leadership, navigation and resilience, key attributes essential for success on the main event.

Exercise CAMBRIAN PATROL has run for over 60 years, is the British Army’s principal All Arms Patrol Exercise and is open to all three Services (Regular and Reserve); international participants are encouraged to take part. It is a mission-focused and scenario-based exercise. The Exercise is not a competition, although patrol performance is assessed throughout based on the Battlecraft Syllabus (BCS) and Individual Training Requirement (ITR), in addition to robustness and leadership. The Exercise is currently made up of eight phases, each of 48 hours, over 10 days. Each patrol will cover approximately 60 km (average climb and descent over 1000m) carrying no more than 32 kg per person. The Exercise is designed to be arduous and all participants must be prepared both mentally and physically for the challenge ahead.
BTT extends sincere thanks to all supporting units, particularly the resident battalion, for their continued support. Special recognition is also given to the BTT delivery team for their exemplary commitment and instructional leadership:
- Warrant Officer Class Two Dilkumar Tamang (Chief Instructor BTT)
