Exercise DELHI URBAN took place in Brunei with The First Battalion, The Royal Gurkha Rifles at the J16 Urban complex and 25-meter range. This exercise was structured into two phases, training with blank firing weapons, and close quarter marksmanship live firing. The exercise culminated in a comprehensive training module on Close-Quarter Marksmanship, where troops honed their skills in transitioning seamlessly between primary and secondary weapon systems, rifle to pistols. During the blank firing phase, teams were strategically deployed to conduct room clearance drills, further enhancing their proficiency in section level urban combat scenarios.
Participating in this rigorous exercise were not just the members of A (DELHI) Company but also esteemed allies from the US Special Forces Operational Detachment (SFOD), who brought their unparalleled expertise in Urban Operations to the forefront. Their exemplary demonstrations throughout the exercise served as a masterclass in urban combat tactics, leaving a lasting impact on the members of A (DELHI) Company.
Personnel from the Royal Navy aboard HMS SPEY injected a fresh dynamic into the exercise. For many naval participants, this marked a foray into unfamiliar territory, as they immersed themselves in acquiring essential urban warfare skills under the expert guidance of our seasoned instructors. The enthusiasm displayed by the Navy contingent in mastering these new skills was truly commendable.
