The First Battalion, The Royal Gurkha Rifles held their Kasam Khane parade for Recruit Intake 25 in Shorncliffe, Kent on 27 January 2026. A total of 62 new Riflemen formally pledged their allegiance to the Regiment, marking the culmination of their transformation from recruits to Riflemen.

At the heart of the ceremony stood The Queen’s Truncheon, the Regiment’s most sacred emblem, presented by Queen Victoria in 1863 in recognition of Gurkha bravery during the Siege of Delhi. As tradition dictates, each new Rifleman marched forward to the Truncheon during the parade, a symbolic moment that binds every generation of Gurkha Riflemen to their history, their Regiment, and their duty.
